The key players in your cycle are estrogen and progesterone. As these hormones fluctuate during the different stages of the cycle, you might see an increase in the flare up of symptoms like bloating, constipation and diarrhea.

In the follicular phase, estrogen is dominant over progesterone, motility is good. Digestion tends to improve. Less bloating and a more regular bowel routine because oestrogen can have a calming effect on gut muscles supporting immunity.
